“My name’s Baba Tshaka! I’m a warrior of life, just like Tshaka of the Zulu. I’m Baba because I’m a father! This world would be a much better place if we treated each other as our children; with kindness and affection. I strive to be a gift to other people through music and art. I believe that through art and music, we can rediscover our lost humanity because God speaks to us through music and art.
I discovered my purpose on this earth is to share the gift of humanity. However, what is sad is that we all are greedy and willing to do anything to rise to the top. We insist on mining minerals out of the ground and bringing men down to the ground. Why can’t we contribute to helping people rise to the top instead of bringing them crashing down? Every day, I take time off to tend to my little garden of herbs, fruits and groundnuts.
When the garden bears fruits, I’ll let passers-by eat fruits from the mango trees, and the sick can also pick a few herbal leaves for their conditions. We must learn to find our roots in nature. When I return to my Jah, I don’t want my kids to struggle as much as I have. I want them to soldier on but with the knowledge that their papa laid a foundation for them.
